Cut+Paste Merch Design Contest
Submission Deadline: April 30th, 2026
We are excited to be bringing some beautifully designed merch to the Cut+Paste creative community this summer. And what better way to do so than by selecting a design created by someone from that same community?
We would love to see your creative idea for a design that can be turned into a sticker and printed onto a tote bag. (And perhaps more products in the future!) Whatever your style or idea is, we would love to see it and consider it for this competition.
Please view the design brief and prize details below. After that, get creating and show us what you come up with!
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the process.
Design Brief
The Cut+Paste Magazine Merch Design Contest is a submission-based competition with the goal of finding a beautiful, creative design for our Summer 2026 merch drop. The chosen design will be used for both tote bags and stickers.
We are seeking unique, artistic work that captures the essence of our brand and the collective creative values of our community.

What is Cut+Paste Magazine?
Cut+Paste Magazine is an art and photography magazine that seeks to bring tangible artwork into people’s creative processes. Each seasonal issue is filled with unique visual art curated for a specific theme and submitted by talented creatives all around the world.
Brand Values
We value supporting artists in every stage and phase. We care about the who and the why and the how behind each piece and enjoy celebrating the artistic journey that comes with each individual artist, photographer, or designer we publish in our magazine.
We value promoting creativity of all kinds, especially the tangible forms that let us disconnect from the screen-filled parts of our lives. We seek to inspire every person to create in one way or another, and to find inspiration to do so in the work of fellow creatives.
We value doodles and sketches and noticings, not just the museum-worthy masterpieces. We value the little moments and everyday beauties that surround us and strive to help others appreciate the art that can be found in every part of life.
Brand Story
Cut+Paste Magazine was founded in 2022. It started with a wouldn’t-it-be-cool-if-this-existed idea, which turned into a few months of garnering interest and crowdfunding, which has now turned into fifteen beautiful issues (& counting!) filled with all kinds of visual art.
The magazine is still a small business just getting off the ground, but it continues to grow and reach more creative people with each new year. Every new issue is a labor of love created from a passion for encouraging artists and bringing more tangible creativity into the world.
Though the C+P team is tiny on paper, it is made possible by dozens of dedicated creatives, whether they be freelancers or volunteers, who share a desire to see the magazine continue and grow. We are so thankful for each and every one of these incredible people.

While we hope to see a wide variety of styles and ideas submitted during this contest, we’ve collected a list of general themes and styles that we gravitate towards and find our customer base enjoying. Feel free to jump off of one or two of these ideas or try something completely new!
Timeless and classic styles and motifs
Hand drawn elements that feel human
Creative takes on nature and floral themes
Editorial, elegant, and minimal styles that still include character and personality
Colors that lean more towards natural, earthy hues than loud and artificial ones
Art and design that carries meaning and stories

Submitted files should be JPG, JPEG, PNG, or PDF files with a resolution of 300 dpi.
Our ideal ratio for the design is 1:1 or 3:4.
We will have a stronger preference toward designs with “Cut+Paste” or “Cut+Paste Magazine” incorporated into the design.
If you choose to “sign” your design in any way, it must be done in a discreet manner that does not detract from the design or the focus on the brand itself.

All designs must be submitted by April 30th, 2026.
Every submission will be reviewed, and our top four picks will be shared with our social media followers and newsletter subscribers for the final vote. After 24 hours, the creator of the winning design will be notified, the payment will be sent (see prize details below), and production will begin shortly thereafter.
The creators of the top four designs will be credited for their work when it is shown for voting.
If the winner does not respond with payment information within 48 hours of being notified, he/she forfeits the win and the runner-up will be contacted.

The winner of the Merch Design Contest will be awarded the following prize package:
$175 cash prize
1-year subscription to the magazine (international or domestic shipping included)
2x tote bags with their design
5x stickers with their design
